by Dana Bingham

Blitz

When you think of the Brooklyn Museum, you think of artists such as Georgia O’Keefe and Winslow Homer, and it’s art collection from around the world. Now, you can add Hip Hop MC Blitz the Ambassador to that list of artists who have made this institution a center for great art.

A Conversation with Abby Bernstein

by Dana Bingham

I'mSorry

When you are named after The Beatle’s album Abby Road and have a lineage of classically trained pianists, music is bound to be your destiny. Such is the case of young singer/songwriter Abby Bernstein. Abby grew up surrounded by music from Blues and Folk to Soul and Rock ‘N Roll. From a very young age, Abby trained under and performed with renowned artists in Jazz such as the late great pianist Billy Taylor and vocal coach Tiana Travers. In addition, Abby has also received accolades for her writing, winning New Writer award from The Songwriter’s Hall of Fame.

A Conversation With DaCav5

Hibernation season is finally coming to a close. As you start to put away those bulky sweaters and pull out those shorts and t-shirts, it’s also time to make changes to that playlist. It’s time to switch out some of those tunes that were great for those dreary chilly nights for tunes that celebrate the coming of the warm weather. Be sure DaCav5’s “Dirty Style” is apart of that playlist.

“People today are still living off the table scraps of the sixties. They are still being passed around – the music and the ideas.” ~ Bob Dylan

As a self-proclaimed music enthusiast, there is a constant hunger for music, new and old. The thrill of re-discovering the creativity of an artist, blending musical elements together that have been around since the beginning of man kind, never gets old.

Days away from the highly anticipated release of Lupe Fiasco‘s highly anticipated album,  L.A.S.E.R.S, concert dates are popping up and holding a ticket to any date is like holding Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket. I was one of the lucky to hold a ticket to the last of his four ssold-outshows at the world famous Blue Note Jazz Club where he was a guest of the Robert Glasper Experiment on Saturday, February 24th.

A Conversation with Bilal

When I first heard Bilal’s Soul Sista on the radio in 2001, I did not know he was the same voice I had heard singing on Common’s song The 6th Sense just a year prior. His style was a throw back to a soul sound I had remembered of the early 80s at the same time blending it with a futuristic sound.

When I first heard Catch Me If You Can by Shawn Chrystopher, I was so impressed, that I had to crank it up for my neighbors to have the same experience. So who is Shawn Chrystopher?
