Ingelmo’s first launched his women’s line in Fall/Winter 2006 and later followed with a men’s line in Spring/Summer 2007. I think the most interesting characteristic about Alejandro Ingelmo is his ability to take modern materials and create a unique ready-to-wear perspective on heels, platforms, ballerina flats, luxury trainers and dress shoes.
His aesthetic came across loud and clear in his Autumn/Winter 2011 collections. The women’s collection was an exploration of manipulating leather in an origami-like method to fold pieces and give exposure similar to an opened shirt collar fold. The colors he experimented with for this collection were mainly silver, gold, camel and blush tones. For Ingelmo’s specialties, heels and platforms, he included a modern rendition of 1970’s glamour with the use of metallic leather in statement Crosby wedge boots. Lots of black-on-black action was also seen throughout the collection illuminating a confident and downtown chic vibe with a mix of black and grey zebra pony skin. As an added treat, ballerina pumps and flat boots in several different colors were introduced to complete this collection.
Alejandro Ingelmo, continued to enhance his men’s collection for Autumn/Winter 2011 with a more in depth twist on classic silhouettes. To help bring this collection to life, he utilized materials like silk fabric to apply a creative twist to each piece. An iconic piece for this collection is “The Tron” which was designed in a tuxedo satin material with matte panels, a clear outsole with shiny welts and a suede exterior. Like the women’s collection, black-on-black is evident in this collection with tans and flashes of gold to create a cohesive statement between both collections.
