There is something unbelievably cool about a chandelier made entirely of used water bottles and drinking whiskey from metal straws. The fixture was one of several objects d’art surrounding the Spring/Summer Levi’s collection and the straws were added to the drink of the night “John Collins” a refreshing cocktail of whiskey and lemon juice. The event was held at the Levi Photo workshop just a few short steps from canal street. The collection showcased the innovative energy and effortless coll the brand known for. The collection also featured the launch of the Water<Less Collection. The “Water<Less looks are created via a process that dramatically reduces the consumption of water during the finishing process. The models lounged atop risers flanked by musical instruments. Just above their heads, the water bottle chandelier dangled, paying homage to the newest in a series of innovations by the 133-year-old brand.
Along with fashion Levi’s also contributes to the world of photography and music. The 18th wooster street address where the event was hosted also serves as the Levi Photo Workshop. Visitors are invited to “rent” on the various antique cameras on display and take pictures in the brightly lit studio. The pictures can also be altered using the photoshop software and computers made available for use at the studio.
Their commitment to music is apparent as the press preview also served as a mini concert for British Band, The Duke Spirit. The energetic soulful sounds of the bands set mirrored the overall feel of the youthful collection. By the end of the night party-goers were definitely “under their spell”. Luckily the spell doesn’t have to end as Levi’s collection will be available in a few short weeks, and you can visit the site and download the band’s latest song Procession.
