The well-heeled set braved the start of Nemo and headed over to the tents at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week to see Monika Chiang’s Fall/Winter 13 Presentation. Inspired by a recurring dream where Chiang is running, along with photographs of birds in flight, the collection was military and aviator focused.
Although the idea of military and aviator uniforms sound rigid and masculine, the shapes and silhouettes of Chiang’s designs were soft and sexy. The collection in a desirable winter palette of black, silver, taupe and cobalt, included Chiang’s staple leather pants, army jackets (so on trend right now), as well as tops and dresses in cashmere, leather and silk. To compete the 16 looks, models wore fabulous Chiang-designed heels and boots and carried Chiang handbags.
While Chiang is still relatively new to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, having shown her first full collection just one year ago, her designs have quickly become a celeb favorite and have recently been spotted on: Kim & Kourtney Kardashian, Jennifer Hudson & Coco Rocha.
The Fall/Winter 13 collection will only serve to further broaden her appeal.
P.S. I LOVE IT.
