Who doesn’t love a good snack? Many of us can recall those elementary days rushing home to watch TV with some chips or a snack cake. Though the things we choose to gorge on may change, the urge for a between meal treat is never-ending. Over the years we’ve incorporated some more health conscious and interesting treats to satisfy our evolving palates. A few short weeks ago we had the opportunity to sample some of the latest snacking options thanks to Snack Attack, a seasonal showcase featuring vendors from all over the country. A few of our favorites from the event include:
Sensible Portions Garden Veggie Chips
As a low-calorie alternative to that other brand in a can, these stackable veggie chips offer the same crunch and flavor of a regular chip. Best of all the chips are cholesterol free, gluten free and low sodium but full of flavor.
Honey Maid Dippers
We’ve always loved graham crackers and honey maid is one of our favorite brands. The Dippers are little graham cracker sticks that are perfect for dipping into just about anything. Dippers are available in chocolate and honey flavor. We recommend dipping the honey flavor in peanut butter for a tasty honey nut snack. For a deconstructed cheesecake treat make a dip for your Dippers by mixing soft cream cheese with strawberry jelly.
Garden of Eatinโ
You all must try theย Garden of Eatinโ Bowls Tortilla Chips. You can have them by itself but you must pair them with salsa and guacamole. They pair nicely together. The bowl chips come in two delicious flavors: White Corn with Sea Salt and Blue Corn with Sea Salt. Both varieties are certified USDA Organic and non-GMO project verified. In case you were wondering, the chips are sturdy, believe us, we’ve tried.
The Carolina Nut Co.
Flavored nuts have come a long way over the years. It used to be salted or honey roasted but now more exotic flavors like wasabi soy and jalapeno have entered the market. The Carolina Nut co has an assortment of over a dozen unique flavors to choose from. We highly recommend the bacon ranch and the honey roasted chipotle. These nuts are great alone or can be mixed with mini pretzels, cheese balls, and candy covered chocolates for a sweet and salty party mix.
Stackable Sensible Portions Garden Veggie Chips
We cannot begin to tell you how addictive these chip are?!? The taste is incredible and the crunch is light and just right.ย They come in “must have” flavors, including: BBQ (made with potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin and beets); Sour Cream & Onion (made with potatoes, spinach, broccoli and peas); Sea Salt (made with potatoes, spinach, broccoli and peas); and Cheddar Cheese (made with potatoes, tomatoes, carrots and beets). It is important to note the chips are gluten-free and are made from vegetable blends, which contains no artificial colors, artificial flavors or added MSG. Nothing like a healthy snack that you can carelessly indulge in.
Marin French Cheese
For over 100 years Marin French cheese has been providing Cheese lovers with a quality assortment of tasty cheeses. Their petite line of cheeses would make a grand addition to your charcuterie or meat and cheese platter. Our favorite was the petite breakfast cheese, a mild buttery cheese with a flavor similar to cheddar.
Horizon Apple Clusters
These crunchy little gems are the perfect addition to our midday yogurt. Made with just four ingredients and a touch of cinnamon they add a bit of crunch and flavor to our bland vanilla yogurt.
TERRA Chips
Who doesn’t love Terra chips? We sure do, but we had to share our new favorites. The Exotic Blend, which includes their original flavors, and Sweet Potato. The Sweet Potato blend has sweet and savory flavors, along with beets flavors. The taste is bold and delicious. All TERRA Real Vegetable chips are made with non-GMO ingredients, are gluten-free and certified kosher, also they are NOT greasy!
Nonniโs THINaddictives
Since 1988 Nonni’s Foods has been making artisan Italian-inspired baked goods for the masses. In March of 2016, they expanded their line “THINaddictives” line of thin cookies by adding antioxidant-rich dark chocolate and protein-packed almonds. Though delicious on their own we like them best as an edible spoon for our favorite gelato.
Though we wouldn’t promote overindulging, we absolutely believe in snacking. Sometimes all you need is a little something to hold you over until the next meal, or perhaps your body needs a little food fuel after a hard day. Whatever draws you to your favorite snack be sure to enjoy it guilt-free and with reckless abandon and just a bit of moderation.
