East Side House, founded in 1891, has served the Mott Haven section of the Bronx since 1963. A staff of 281, including full and part-time teachers, social workers, and other experts serve approximately 8,000 residents from 17 locations.
Last week after getting an exclusive sneak peek at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, we lent our support to East Side House Settlement as they hosted the 14th Annual Gala Preview. Guests from the world of finance, fashion, arts, and sports-filled Jacob Javitz Center for the private affair before it officially opened to the public.
The evening was filled with music, cocktails, live bidding, and even the Camp Jeep New York experience—an outdoor, rugged terrain space in which passengers experienced Jeep’s off-roading capabilities. Don’t worry attendees had their own private chauffeur.
The Gala Preview ended with a private dinner for benefactors and a specially curated display of several Jeep models, including the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Courtney Booth of Sotheby’s auctioned off exciting packages and experiences, including a private studio recording session with rap legend Erick Sermon. Sermon attended the Gala along with his friend and famed rap star Waka Flocka Flame, stirring up excitement with fans and bidders who clamored for the opportunity to be a “rapper for a day.”
