The 2016 Jazz Age Lawn Party kicked off its August fête with a slew of people descending on New York’s Governor’s Island. Although temperatures were at all-time high, that did not stop the party. From dapper gents to the Roaring Twenties. Everyone relished in a day of live amazing live jazz music, dance performances, savory and delicious cocktails.
Rememberable moments included:
- Nonstop performances by Michael Arenella (founder of the Jazz Age Lawn Party) & His Dreamland Orchestra, Queen Esther, Molly Ryan, Gregory Moore & the Dreamland Follies, and Roddy Caravella & The Canarsie Wobblers.
-
Despite the heat, dancing, dancing, and more dancing; including Charleston & Peabody Dance Contests!
- Approximately 8,000 guests attended throughout the weekend outfitted in the most impressive 1920s and 30s fashions.
- A special tribute to the longtime attendee, Bill Cunningham, featuring Gregory Moore and Simon Mulligan
-
The only breaks from the dancing were to enjoy vintage shopping, curated comestibles and refreshments including:
-
Specialty cocktails by St-Germain French Elderflower Liqueur including the signature St-Germain Cocktail (our favorite), Flapper’s Delight, Strike Up the Band, and a special tribute to St-Germain founder, who recently passed, Americano de Robert. Check out the recipes below.
-
- Refreshing bubbly from one of our favorite brands, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte – featuring their iconic Brut Reserve offering. We could drink these champs all day.
-
Ice cold beer from Duvel, Brewery Ommegang, and Nirvana
-
And an amazing amount of Nestle Pure Life Water & Perrier was seen hydrating the crowd!
- The Annual High Court of Pie Contest winners with Lee Chappell taking home three awards (an event first!) including Mom’s Best (Goat Cheese + Thyme in a puff pastry with a raspberry topping, Best Savory (Sweet Creamed Corn with an heirloom tomato relish) and Most Original (Jalapeno hot pepper jam/bacon tartlet).
