We had the pleasure of attending the NAMM Summer Show, held at the Music City Center July 15-16 in Nashville, Tennessee, and dedicated exclusively to the ideal of belief in music with its tagline “Believe in Music.” The NAMM Show provides a hub for music industry services and products, with the first look at trends shaping the future of the music business industry. The NAMM Summer Show also offered a special time to reconnect coming out of the pandemic with a range of large and smaller-scale music instrument providers, artists, and more, with the larger annual NAMM Show resuming in January in its usual home, Anaheim, California.

Greenwich Wine + Food Festival celebrated its 9th year on Saturday, September 21, 2019. The annual event combines food with philanthropy as a portion of all proceeds go to charitable causes. This year, the main beneficiary is Connecticut based, Food Rescue US. Founded by lifelong friends Jeff Schacher and Kevin Mullins, Food Rescue has become a leader in reducing food waste and hunger in the U.S. Food Rescue’s app makes giving back easier, by connecting volunteers with sources of surplus food and organizations that feed the hungry. With participation in over 10 states and the latest technology Food Rescue has delivered over 6.8 million meals. In addition to the Food Rescue, the Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation is also a beneficiary for this year’s event.

Gerber Group will be operating The Pool Bar and Observation Deck at the highly anticipated TWA Hotel, opening May 15.

Always refreshing, the water in the 63-by-20-foot infinity edge pool offers a much-needed respite during sweltering Summers. Come winter, it turns into a pool-cuzzi — the water can be heated up to 100 degrees! Whatever the weather, the H2O is perpetually pristine: the highly filtered water is purified every 30 minutes (a standard pool recirculates every 6 hours!).

A Taste of Greece: Lunch With Global Alive at Nerai

by xoJohn
On Wednesday, November 28th, we joined Global Alive founder Evageline Plakas at Nerai Restaurant, located in Midtown Manhattan. The Hellenic Culinary Luncheon took guests through a virtual journey of Greece with stunning visuals of the chic destination and delicious Greek cuisines. To get things started, Plakas welcomed guests with a champagne toast and explained Global Alive’s mission, which is to bring Greek/Cypriot-Americans closer together with the Greek community and its ever-growing enterprises. Currently, Global Live has two publications, Hellenic Golden Directory and HellenicDailyNews.com.

After a Summer of work, work, and more work we decided to take a few days of R&R before the holiday season. September through November is considered the off-season for Mexico, so it’s a good time to catch decent deals on travel and accommodations. Unfortunately, this is also the hurricane season which could be disastrous if attempting to travel during this time. Throwing caution to the wind, we booked our trip for late September and ended up with a storm-free week of fun and frivolity. The forecast literally called for Thunderstorms every damn day! It probably only rained for 20 minutes during the entire five days we were in Mexico. Otherwise, it was sunny and hot. We divided our trip into two parts; we spent two days exploring the streets of Playa Del Carmen before heading to The Grand at Moon Palace resort.

The area that is now known as Syracuse wasn’t much of anything more than two centuries ago, but that all changed in the early 1800s. It was inevitable to many, as the land was level, it was near numerous salt supplies, and it would be the perfect spot to connect the eastern and western parts of the state. John Wilkinson thought the village looked quite similar to a city over in Italy, so when it came time to name it in 1820, he gave it the same name. It was then that Syracuse was born, and it became a city once the village and the nearby village of Salina merged.

Cruises on the Hudson are a Summertime thrill that we look forward to every year. The warm breeze and scenic landscape have become a familiar and cherished indulgence. One our favorite ways to cruise is with Classic Harbor Line. Their well-managed fleet always provides a fun, safe experience. Their most luxurious vessels are the Manhattan and Manhattan II. Each yacht is designed with classic details, featuring a bright interior lounge below as well as a magnificent outer deck with seating. Last year we spent a full day on their cruise to Poughkeepsie. This year we decided to try their Bear Mountain excursion. The Bear Mountain cruise begins at pier 62 in Chelsea, from there it’s a three-hour cruise to Bear Mountain State Park. The ship docks for three full hours at the park before heading back to Chelsea.

Even though it doesn’t quite feel like it here in New York City, Summer is almost here. Instead of walking fast with our heads down to avoid the win, our faces will be tiled up towards the sun trying to soak in the warmth. Although the city is a great place to be in the summer, you may find yourself wanting to get away from the bustle of the city for a day or two. New York state has loads of cities with fun summer options for New Yorkers to take a break. Rather it be just you, a couples trip, a day out with friends, or a family trip there is something to do.
