As a native of Peru, Sergio graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2002 and immediately began developing and creating his own menswear line based on a vision for how he wanted to dress. In 2008, he became the first Peruvian designer to present at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week event at Bryant Park. Since then he has continued to produce consistent and modern collections for both men and women that the media and buyers rave about. In 2010, he became the first Peruvian to act as Fashion Ambassador to Brand Peru promoting fibers such as Alpaca and Pima Cotton. Davila also uses these fibers in his pieces and they are 100% organic.
For his Fall/Winter 2013/14 collection, Sergio Davila was inspired by historical, dark and foggy old South American cities like Lima, Peru. He moved to the historical Centre of Lima – near to Plaza San Martin and Chinatown – and lived in a Victorian apartment for 8 months to create this collection.
Sergio Davila’s Fall/Winter 2011/2012 hit the runway in the Studio at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week to an audience that included “The Veronicas.”
