The 25th Annual Collaborating for a Cure Gala, one of New York City’s favorite charity events celebrated its silver anniversary at Cipriani Wall Street. The “fun-raiser as opposed to the fundraiser” as described by Michael Nierenberg raised more than $6 million towards the goal of funding the next five years of crucial SWCRF cancer research programs such as the Partnership for Aging and Cancer Research Program, the SWCRF Institute Without Walls, and the Women’s Cancer Research Program.

One of our favorite benefits returned for a wonderful evening of philanthropy and fun. The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation’s 18th Annual Hamptons Happening took place over the weekend. It’s one of the Hamptons’ most-anticipated summer social events. The benefit was once again, hosted on the beautiful Bridgehampton estate of Kenneth and Maria Fishel. More than 300 guests attended and more than $400,000 was raised for cancer research.

Now that New York is getting back to some kind of normalcy, more than 300 guests carefully gathered at the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation’s Hamptons Happening. One of our favorite charitable events we were happy to return to. The popular annual charity food and wine event was back in a big way and raised more than $400,000 towards cancer research. The 17th annual event was a celebration of health and wellness, and the culmination of The Global Walk to Flatten the Cancer Curve with SWCRF partner, Walk with a Doc. Committee members Maria Fishel and Kenneth Fishel hosted the magical evening at their beautiful estate in Bridgehampton.

One of our favorite organizations, The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF), held their annual Collaborating for a Cure Benefit Dinner & Auction at Cipriani Wall Street. This marks 21 years of the charitable event. The annual gala raised approximately $2.5 million to support the SWCRF “Invest in Research” efforts that fund highly collaborative research projects focused on eradicating cancer. No snowstorm could keep guests away, including us, as the room was filled with hundreds of people. The gala encompassed 80% personal purchases and 20% purchases from corporations, whereas the other 14 fundraising events saw a turnout comprised of 20% personal purchases and 80% corporate purchases.

The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) hosted its annual Collaborating for a Cure Benefit Dinner & Auction at Cipriani Wall Street, posthumously honoring William S. Gorin, former CEO of MFA Financial, Inc., and featuring a musical performance by The Avett Brothers. This year’s event was attended by about 800 corporate executives, board members, and their guests. Chris Wragge, co-anchor of CBS 2 News This Morning, served as master of ceremonies for the event, which raised approximately $2.5 million for SWCRF cancer research programs. The impressive amount raised at the Gala will be used to support the Foundation’s research efforts to produce a cure for cancer by reprogramming cancer cells and to deliver tailored, minimally toxic treatments to patients.

Angelo David Salon, New York City’s leading luxury hair salon for Couture Hair Extensions, Wigs & Additions, partnered with New York radio station 95.5 PLJ for the 3rd Annual Blow Out Breast Cancer Event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Proceeds from the event went to our friends at Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF), an international research organization dedicated to curing and preventing cancer. The popular event continues to grow, and is now adding participating salons; this year, Gumdrop Hairdressing, located at 46 Church Street, Montclair, NJ joined the cause. Attendees at the Gumdrop Hairdressing event included Nicole Coultas, VJ Moscaritola, and Jeanna Sheridan.

Last week, the charitable organization hosted their 17th annual benefit dinner and auction. The event honored fashion designers and our seatmates, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs, otherwise known as the duo behind Cushnie et Ochs. The evening started with a cocktail reception where more than 750 corporate executives, board members, and their guests mingled and bid on silent auction items. Notables included Dr. Samuel Waxman and family, Chris Wragge, Michael and Elin Nierenberg, Ruth Finley, and a host of others.
