This season, Ports 1961 designer, Fiona Cibani, draws inspiration from the magic allure of the desert. With delicate mirage abstractions and a landscape in constant evolution as her muse, Fiona crafts a collection within a realm of harmonic contrasts. We are always a fan of Cibani’s unique designs.

Ports 1961 Spring/Summer 2011 collection will be presented on Friday, September 10th during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center. Check back here for a full review of the show.

Inspired by rock icon Patti Smith, Ports 1961 designer Tia Cibani debuted the Resort 2011 collection. Each piece was more edgy than the last and the collection cohesively celebrated gender equality and represented a modern androgyny.

Delicious chocolate from La Maison du Chocolat, beautiful clothing, and champagne was the scene at Bloomingdale‘s where the company, alongside Vanity Fair presented the Ports 1961 Spring Collection. The fashion show was held at Bloomies 59th street store in NYC and was hosted by Head Designer Tia Cibani along with Celebrity Fashion Expert Ann Carus. We absolutely adored the Spring 2010 collection and Cibani’s use of traditional spring colors, accessories and layering. Each piece is wearable for just about any occasion. Ports 1961, a label that debuted in 2006, as a spin-off of Canadian sportswear label “Ports International,” is led by Vancouver-native, Tia Cibani. Her designs beautifully illustrate women’s Ready To Wear, with romantic silhouettes and often, an ethnic twist. Last year, her Fall 2009, took on a very timely theme, with Indian inspired music and dress. This season, Tia channeled what seemed to be Asian-inspiration, indicated in both the choice of music and the sushi platters included in the gift bags.

Here is an exclusive sneak peek at the Ports 1961 Fall 2010 collection which will debut at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Bryant Park. The label is known for telling a story with each collection. We expect to see chunky knits, layers and soft separates for their Fall/Winter presentation. “My collection is inspired by the relationship between discovery and invention” said Tia Cibiani, Creative Director for Ports 1961.
