Inside the 63rd Viennese Opera Ball

by xoJohn

Last week, nearly 400 guests filled New York City’s Ziegfeld Ballroom for the 63rd Viennese Opera Ball. The Ball, which is the oldest white-tie charity gala in New York, benefitted the music therapy program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center with support from Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research. Since 1955, the Viennese Opera Ball in New York has been a representative of Vienna’s cultural legacy, elegance, and glamour in the Big Apple. The Ball operates as a cultural platform and builds bridges to connect present-day New York City with 19th Century Vienna, and people of varying heritages, continents, and generations, to bring traditional glamour to the city that never sleeps.

It’s been a busy week on The Scene. This week, Katie Holmes showed up to support Jamie Foxx at the flagship store opening for designer sunglasses brand, Prive Revaux. Foxx is one of the “celebrity visionaries” behind the brand. Notable guests included Rapper Nicki Minaj, Odell Beckham Jr., DJ Kid Capri, and celebrity hairstylist, Marc Mena. The room was filled with high energy as everyone was there to support the pop-up and collection. Casa Noble Tequila provided cocktails to celebrate such a wonderful occasion. Cheers!

In the Fade premiere, leading lady Diane Kruger turned heads in an “always sparkling” mini Halpern dress to celebrate the American premiere of the German drama at the MoMA in New York. Kruger was joined by Director Fatih Akin, cast members, friends, family and other notables such as Kathleen Turner, Prabal Gurung, Megan Boone, Dan Hedaya, Miles McMillan and Johannes Huebl.

Diane Kruger

As of late, Kruger has been getting a lot of Oscar buzz for her role after also winning Best Actress at Cannes Film Festival this year. After the screening and Q&A, guests headed to Ma Peche, where they enjoyed dinner and wine, courtesy of Ruffino Wines. Here, Kruger showcased her second look of the night – a glamorous black Tom Ford long sleeve dress – and proposed a toast with Ruffino Wine.

Since 1986, the James Beard Foundation has celebrated and honored chefs and other leaders making America’s food culture more delicious, diverse, and sustainable for everyone. On Friday, The James Beard Foundation (JBF) hosted The JBF Gala: A Night of Award Winners. This year’s JBF celebrated the incomparable and gracious, Susan Ungaro. As some of you may or may not know, Susan has decided to leave her position as president of JBF, saying “I’ve been at this for 11 years and I feel I have one more adventure in my career, something meaningful, maybe one that’s less taxing than this.” Under her inspiring leadership, the foundation has risen not only in accolades and programs, but fundraising as well. JBF’s annual income more than tripled to nearly $12 million since the previous fiscal year. What an amazing way to send Susan Ungaro off on her next adventure.
