The Sonos One is here to take out its competition. Sonos is ready to take over the smart home/speaker market, thanks to its intelligence and impressive features. If you got a flair for great audio quality and a big fan of the hands-free assistance of the Amazon Echo, then I think you would want to get your hands on the Sonos One, which is available at Best Buy. It’s more like adding a brain to the Sonos Play:1 and the best part is that it still comes at the same price. Sonos One taps into Amazon Alexa’s intelligent assistance; there’s nothing cooler than telling Alexa what you want to hear and it plays instantly. Sonos One will be adding support for the Google Assistant and Siri next year.

From its humble beginnings with only 30 brands with now more than 500+, the show continues to expand. And this year for the first time, the show featured a one-day only open to the public Agenda Festival, drawing fashion and music lovers in droves as it was headlined by some of today’s top artists including Tyler the Creator, Ludacris, Cam’ron and Lil Dicky. The Agenda Festival provided a platform of fashion meets music thanks to the 500+ pop-up shops for consumers to shop the “curated mall” of top brands in skate, surf, streetwear, and lifestyle, meet and greet their favorite athletes, explore the food truck alley and enjoy live musical performances.

Bridgefest 2017 concluded successfully for the second time on 3^rd of August. We ventured out to Newport, RI to be amongst the many spectators for the festival. People who attended the event got the opportunity to experience some breathtaking performances. The combination of Jazz, Indian Carnatic music, and African Beats transformed the entire event into a fascinating one. Bridgefest 2017, which is also known as A Bridge Together has some similarities when compared to other Newport Festivals. The primary objective of Bridgefest is to bring together cultures that are scattered in different parts of the world. When these cultures are brought together, concert goers were able to experience how well they blend with each other.

Afropunk Takes Brooklyn

AFROPUNK started with a documentary in 2003 that galvanized a generation of disenfranchised multicultural Punk music enthusiasts and Hardcore Kids that didn’t see themselves represented in any meaningful way in the dialogue of pop culture or the underground music scene. The first AFROPUNK FEST was in 2005 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. In the decade since the first festival, AFROPUNK has expanded to include an activist and artistic collective with events from Bonnaroo to Paris. This year’s festival was held in Fort Greene on a perfect weekend at Commodore Barry Park.

The musical lineup was meticulously curated by festival founders Matthew Morgan and James Spooner. Performers included Lauryn Hill, Kelis, Danny Brown, Lenny Kravitz, DJ Beverly Bond, and the incomparable Grace Jones.

Summers are made for outdoor fun. There are a lot of outdoor activities taking place throughout the New York City tri-state area. One in particular I wanted to check out was the Hudson RiverRocks concert, which celebrates its 17th season this year. The free outdoor concert series draws crowds every year and features established artist, as well as new and upcoming performers. The Hudson RiverRocks concert series takes place at beautiful pier 84 and goes on whether it rains or shines.

The Playboy Jazz Festival took over the Hollywood Bowl this past weekend. The two-day festival saw droves of people coming together to enjoy the musical talents of both veteran and up-and-coming acts.

On Saturday Morgan James showed us exactly why she was picked to play the part of Teena Marie in Motown: The Musical. The majority of her set included songs from her debut album titled Hunter. Morgan belted out the lyrics to “Fed Up on You” which instantly became one of my new favorite songs! “Heart Shake” and “Say the Words” were pretty dope as well.

The headphone/speaker hybrid is very sleek and comes equipped with hard shell case, which perfectly fits the headphones when folded. We first thought they would be a little on the heavy side but surprisingly these babies are lightweight and fits comfortably on your head. As for the audio quality, we found the speakers to be a little more powerful than the headphones. The headphones are not terrible but a true sound buff would want something more powerful, these can be just a little bit on the soft side. This year instead of watching your favorite holiday film on cable or dvd, take a chance on a live action production of an American classic. 1983’s A Christmas Story has been reformatted as a musical and will appear for a limited engagement this holiday season. A Christmas Story is the take an incredibly memorable holiday in the life of Ralphie Parker an imaginative young boy with a habit of day dreaming. All Ralphie wants for Christmas is a gun, an official Red Ryder Carbine-Actions 200-shot Range Model Air Rifle to be precise. In his quest to gain this toy Ralphie is willing to absolutely anything and finds himself in zany situations as a result. The story is told by an older wiser Ralphie who recalls thus particular holiday with great reverence and joy.
