State Optical Co. is a luxury American eyewear brand that is currently being manufactured in Chicago. State Optical Co. is the collaboration between husband and wife team, Scott and Amanda Shapiro, eyewear executive Jerry Wolowicz, entrepreneurial cousins Marc Franchi and Jason Stanley, and award-winning eyewear designer Blake Kuwahara. The brand prides itself on pure quality and authenticity of its eyewear designs. Each frame’s temple tip echoes the company’s logo, a pyramid comprised of 21 individual “dots” (representing America’s 21st state, Illinois) skillfully cut then filled by hand with clear epoxy and polished. The acetate palette is sophisticated and nuanced with colors and structures were chosen specifically to enhance the frames’ silhouettes and flatter the face.

I Now Have “Happy Eyes” Thanks To felix + iris

by xoJohn

As a member of the “four eyes” club, I found it extremely hard to find a good pair of prescription glasses that fit well, were comfortable, and of course fashionable. My current daily glasses from Gant not as comfortable as they should have been and would began to squeeze my head after wearing them for a little over an hour. If you’ve experienced this, then you know it can be quite painful. I guess my eye doctor didn’t do such a good job during the fitting. I unfortunately had to learn the hard way how important it is to have the correct measurements when ordering frames. Luckily I started to hear buzz about a new startup eyewear company that focuses on the look and feel of glasses.
