Discovering New Treats at Food Fête

by Desha Winborne

A few weeks ago food fete held ts big summer showcase. The seasonal event is the biggest for the year and brought food journalists from various outlets and vendors together for an evening of sampling and networking. Many of the exhibitors present new and innovative ideas to the event and some re-introduce journalists to brands they know and trust with new products and on-trend offerings. During the evening we mingled with every brand in the room, sampling quite a few tasty recipes and summer themed dishes.

KTCHN Gets An Italian Makeover

by Desha Winborne

Location: 508 West 42nd street

Cuisine: American and Italian

Best Dish: Can you ever go wrong with homemade pizza? The cheese was gooey and thick beneath generous slices of tender prosciutto. This is one of the best slices we’ve had in a while and more than worth the trip to Hell’s Kitchen.

Overall: KTCHN is an impressive space that is ideal for a hot date or a relaxed meal with friends. The atmosphere is casual and lively adding to its appeal making it a warm and inviting venue for your next outing.

Going Crazy For GRAZE

by xoJohn

We only heard about Graze a few weeks ago when we stopped by their NYC headquarters for a fun loft party. We were immediately smitten with their concept and original idea. So what is Graze? It’s a subscription service; Graze snack boxes are filled with nutritious (and delicious) treats. Each graze box is customized based on your taste and dietary preferences, which makes it very unique. Our personal favorites were the dried fruits and mini popcorn snacks.graze-variety-table

Location: 50 Avenue B, New York, NY 10009

Cuisine: American

Best Dish: Two Words- Lobster Tacos. These are an amazing hybrid between a lobster roll and a fish taco. The crunchy shell holds up well with the large chunks of delicious lobster meat.

Overall: It’s more than a bar it’s an event. Despite its horror themed appearance Lovecraft is a fun relaxed place with a friendly staff and really good food. It’s a good place to enjoy after work or with a few friends. The space also makes a great venue for a first date the decor alone will give you something to talk about and if you’re lucky, Troy will be there to supply the soundtrack to your new love story.

Restaurant Review: Ken and Cook

by Desha Winborne

Location: 19 Kenmare Street

Cuisine: Contemporary American

Items: 1 raw bar item, 1 meat and cheese platter, 4 Entrees, 3 Cocktails, 2 Hard Ciders

Cost: 167.00 (Before Tipping and after-tax)

Best Dish: For true meat lovers the lamb shank is a must! The meat is tender and flavorful. If you desire something less cave man-esque go for the scallops, the light fresh sauce is amazing!

Overall: A small living space with friendly energetic staff and great food.  The space is pretty tight so you like a lot of space between you and your neighbor visit during off-peak hours.  We went at around 7 on a Wednesday and the venue was almost at capacity.
