Review: Demarchelier Restaurant

by James Bianca

Location: 50 East 86th Street (At Madison Avenue) New York, NY 10028

Price: $$$

Overall: It’s a little taste of Paris’ La Rive Gauche (the Left Bank) on the Upper East Side. A night in this sweet French restaurant may leave you expecting to wander out onto cobblestone streets – and not into a sea of yellow cabs.

Restaurant Review: Russian Samovar

by xoJohn

Location: 256 West 52nd Street (At 8th Avenue) New York, NY 10019

Cuisine: Russian

Best Dish: Zharkoe is a hearty bread bowl filled with tender beef stew. It was delicious and filling. The bread was fresh and flaky and the stew savory and succulent.

Price: $$$

Overall: Good food with a relaxed vibe. Russian Samovar is located next to all of the hottest Broadway shows. You should stop by for a pre or post theater meal.

Review: Allora Ristorante

by Desha Winborne

Location: 145 East 47th Street, New York, NY

Cuisine: Italian

Best Dish: Tagliatelle was incredible. The Miller’s Pasta was amazing but the Steak Diane was the clear favorite. It was dramatically presented with a flourish of bright flames and a deliciously decadent cut of beef.

Cost: $$$

Overall: A sophisticated eatery that doesn’t take itself too seriously.  Prepare to be served properly and well fed. Allora Ristorante is an ideal location for your next milestone celebration or date night with someone special.

Review: Clay Restaurant

by James Bianca

Location: 553 Manhattan Avenue (at 123rd St.)

Price: $$

Cuisine: New American // Farm-to-Table

Overall: A rich and rare dining experience for a neighborhood that is rich in history. It is the kind of place that will have foodies traveling uptown and locals frequenting often.

From Architectural Designer Roberto Sosa, the space was designed to evoke the earthen charm of Clay’s namesake material. Large French doors with floor-to-ceiling windows give way to the intimate dining room, where modern white porcelain fixtures cast soft light onto natural wood tables. A muted gray painting of fragmented clay pottery adorns the far wall. A white marble bar running the length of the space leads to a downstairs dining room with a rough-hewn white stone wall and terracotta flooring.

Restaurant Review: Hendriks

by xoJohn

Location: 557 3rd Avenue, New York, NY

Cusine: American

Best Dish: Hands down the Pork Belly Risotto was the star of the evening. For any pork lover, this dish is more than worthy of a visit to Hendriks. The meaty belly is sliced thick and served in a generous portion that you will want to devour…slowly. And we devoured it, nice and slow.

Price: $$$

Overall: A hidden gem of a restaurant that you won’t be able to keep to yourself. An ideal venue for a delicious meal or premium cocktails.
