Best dish: Tteok N’ Cheese is one of the best items on the menu. It is filling and hearty with a buttery top and creamy cheesy center.

Review: Solomon & Kuff

by James Bianca

Location: 2331 12th Avenue, New York, NY 10027

Cuisine: The lovechild of Caribbean and Gastropub Fare.

Best Dish: It is often the simplest cuisine executed well that makes the greatest impression, and the Yucca Fries paired with their house made Green Chili Aioli was a dish we returned to again and again.

Price: $$

Overall: For a restaurant that is located off the beaten path, its décor and cuisine could rival that of any New York City dining hot spot.

Review: Burger & Lobster Bryant Park

by xoJohn

Best Dish: The Beast served up the best of both worlds; surf and turf on a sesame seed bun topped with melty cheese. What more could you ask for?

Overall: The cool casual vibe of Burger & Lobster on 19th street, right in the heart of midtown Manhattan.

Review: Gaijin Japanese Restaurant

by xoJohn

Location: 37-12 31st Ave, Long Island City, NY 11103

Cuisine: Japanese

Best Dish: The entire meal was well thought out and executed perfectly. If we must choose a favorite it would have to be the rice bowl. The Donburi is a filling and delicious rice bowl that leaves you satisfied but not overstuffed.

Cost: $$$$

Activity: Sunset Sail on the Manhattan 2, from Pier 62 (Chelsea)
Description: Finger foods, cocktails and a 2-hour cruise on the Hudson
Meal: Dinner at Craven, 346 West 40th Street New York, NY
Cuisine: American with International flair
Cost: $$$$

Making date night plans can be hard. More often than not we find ourselves wanting something more interesting than the basic dinner and a movie. This is especially true if you and your partner have been together for a while. Don’t end up in a date night rut. Instead, plan a romantic sunset sail and a meal with Harbor Line Cruises and Craven Restaurant (Formerly Magnolia Restaurant).

Location: 1136 1st Street, New York, NY 10065

Cuisine: Indian

Best Dish: The curried pork belly was a fascinating culinary experience. The dish was well executed with rich complex flavors and just a little heat. Our second favorite was the Fried Okra. The peppery flavor of Indian spices and the crispiness of the Okra made this an addictive appetizer.

Price: $$

Overall: A new restaurant offering a fresh take on elevated Indian cuisine with European and American influences.

Location: 120 East 39th Street, New York, NY 10016

Cuisine: Sushi

Best Dish: Although the restaurant is known for its creative sushi, the lobster mac & cheese is the stand out star.

Price: $$

Overall: The best kitschy dinner and show you didn’t know you needed to experience.

On Thursday, we celebrated the two year anniversary of Sushi Roxx and the opening of its new show “Love Roxx.” The midtown east eatery, which is designed with animated Japanese wall décor, paper lanterns, and prominent hues of red, is the concept and dream of owner Jason Apfelbaum. Along with the help of his talented, theater-trained wait staff, Apfelbaum has created a space where he says they are “not in the restaurant business,” but rather in “the feeling business.” And currently, that feeling is all about love.
