The average height and size of an American woman is 5 foot 4, size 16. The average size of a model is under 6 in missy, 10 in plus and both are expected to exceed 5’8 in height. This leaves a staggering disparity in how the average woman compares to her print and digital counterparts. Essentially shorter curvier women are the norm and yet vastly underrepresented. Though they make up the majority, this group is relatively unseen. Visual representation by brands, networks, and organizations opt for taller women to showcase their products or represent brands. In their efforts to celebrate their actual consumers, some brands have steered away from the size 10 and employed larger models like Tess Holliday and Simone Mariposa.

10 New Foods for a Healthier New Year

by xoJohn

Now that the holidays are over and we are in a brand new year, 2018, many of us are proclaiming 2018 as the year to get healthy.  Plans will be made, gym memberships purchased and diets researched. While some of us will be focused and motivated many will abandon our attempts at healthfulness by February. Some will be too busy to get to hit the gym and others will be bored with “diet” food. While we certainly aren’t gym rats, we are most likely to get bored with limited dining options. As lifelong foodies, the thought of a restricted meal plan is far more terrifying than the dreaded muffin top or double chin. While we always have and always will advocate body positivity and self-love no matter your shape, we also think a healthier diet is a good idea for all of us.  Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t all about losing weight the right diet will keep you energized, focused and balanced. To help us on our way to healthier living we’ve adopted a few products that are tasty enough to satisfy our palates, full of vital nutrients and healthy enough to be good for us too.

As one of the most well-respected and diverse tradeshows, it’s no surprise that Agenda continues to draw brands and buyers. From its humble beginnings with only 30 brands with now more than 500+, the show continues to expand. And this year for the first time, the show featured a one-day only open to the public Agenda Festival, drawing fashion and music lovers in droves as it was headlined by some of today’s top artists including Tyler the Creator, Ludacris, Cam’ron and Lil Dicky. The Agenda Festival provided a platform of fashion meets music thanks to the 500+ pop-up shops for consumers to shop the “curated mall” of top brands in skate, surf, streetwear, and lifestyle, meet and greet their favorite athletes, explore the food truck alley and enjoy live musical performances.

Over the last year spinning has gained a cult like following of svelte super fit enthusiasts.  For the elite among these fitness mavens Peloton fitness offers a spinning experience that is unlike any other. We caught up with the founders and instructors at the exclusive grand opening cocktails party where they led us through a tour of the 8,000-square-foot space.

Guests enjoyed Pelotonic’s that were created by Jack’s Stir Brew coffee and bottled artesian water was provided by Aquaçai. Coaches will be draped in VPL’s Spring/Summer 2014 ‘fashion active’ collection which truly shows the significance of merging fashion with athletic wear.

With 2014 being hours away, many of us are reflecting on the past year and resolving to make positive changes. The majority of us hit the ground running at the turn of a new year, but unfortunately burn out in just a few months or even weeks. CouponCabin.com reports that 80% of those who join a gym quit within the first five months. To make matters worse, according to Statisticbrain.com, 67% of people with gym memberships never use them at all!
