Kenneth Ning’s Summer/Spring 2016 collection is a refreshing exploratory leap from seasons past. The color palette has evolved to evoke bright spices. Complex prints reminiscent of sand mandalas bounce throughout the line. Vibrant mustard yellow and crisp jade run along side deep navy. Floral jacquards punctuate a horizontal take on the pinstripe suit. Sheer bandanas emblazoned with floral prints serve to accessorize the outfits, sometimes going so far as to shield the entire face from view.
Cat Footwear took over New York City’s oldest whiskey distillery, Kings County Distillery, in the Brooklyn Navy Yard to showcase and launch their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, and to preview what’s new for Spring/Summer 2014.
Cat’s “Earthmovers Campaign” was on display, which highlights a selection of inspiring individuals who are doing their part to move the earth in their everyday lives. Six Earthmovers were featured in the runway show including Gina Giorgio (aka DJ Gene), Luke Lambert (Crew Chief of the #31 Caterpillar Chevrolet), Alexi Panos & Tennille Amor (Co-Founders of the non-profit: E.P.I.C. which stands for “Everyday People Initiating Change”), Tyler Hilton (Singer/Songwriter & Actor), and Nicole Austin (the Master Blender of Kings County Distillery). The fashion show featured 31 looks, ranging from Cat’s iconic “Colorado” work boot, to key styles from both the men’s and women’s AW13 and SS14 collections.
CAT launched its Men’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection this week at their showroom in New York City. As stated in their current look book “for nearly two decades, CAT footwear has been designing and engineering quality footwear that lives up to the hard-working reputation of the CAT brand.” With that said I went into the event expecting tan work boots and was shown the complete opposite as soon as I walked in the door.
