Harlem Burger Co.: The Best Burgers in Town

by xoJohn

Location: 2190 Frederick Douglass Blvd, New York, NY 10026

Cuisine: American/Burgers

Best Dish: We loved the meaty beef burger but the star of the day was the veggie burger. Not that is takes anything away from the deliciousness of its beefy sister, it just opened up our palettes to the possibility of meatless options. Anything meatless that can be happily gobbled up by self-proclaimed carnivores is worthy of the highest praise.

Overall: A cool easy-going venue for a quick but delicious bite. Feel free to drop by but choose your seat quickly they fill up fast but don’t let that deter you there’s always takeout!

Since the grand opening of the first Hard Rock Cafe over 40 years ago, the brand has evolved to include over 100 cafes in 68 countries and broadened to include several hotels and casinos. As expansive as their empire has grown, their commitment to good food and fun atmosphere has never faltered.

Rooftops are typically a seasonal indulgence in the big apple, but STK Downtown keeps the fun going year-round with its swanky rooftop lounge. STK Rooftop is located in the trendy meatpacking district, just a few feet from several designer shops and hot art galleries. Just below the rooftop lounge is STK Downtown, a chic steakhouse with attitude to spare. The dining room is lush and romantic with ambient lighting and modern furnishings. In addition to the rooftop and dining room areas, the venue also offers private rooms that can be reserved for your special events. We stopped by STK Rooftop on a warm Summer evening a few years ago. We were impressed with its chic decor, easy-going vibe and delicious edibles. We dropped by a few nights ago to take advantage of their weeknight special known as “Classic Hour”.

Beatrice Inn Has Some of the Best Burgers Around

by xoJohn

I recently stopped into the ultra exclusive Beatrice Inn, located in the heart of the West Village where Angie Mar is the Executive Chef. Mar is a native of Seattle, but at Beatrice Inn she draws her talents as a chef heavily from the rustic farmers markets of her childhood, with a focus on simplicity and seasonality. During my visit, Mar greeted me with a smile and her charming personality as she went over the the burger options for the evening. Let me tell you, this girl knows her stuff! After listening to the many offerings, I decided on the lamb burger, because seriously, who doesn’t love a good juicy lamb burger. It was just that, good, succulent, and quite scrumptious.

District Tap House Has A New Menu

by Desha Winborne

The District Tap House has been a garment center favorite since opening in January of this year. The space has recently undergone some great new changes including a menu of carefully selected craft cocktails and delicious new dishes.  We stopped by District Tap House where we had the privilege of tasting a few of their best drinks and tasty edibles, and to also meet the team behind the updated menu. Once we entered we were ushered to a private bar area in the rear by the bubbly hostess. The rear space was equipped with a private bar and two friendly bartenders serving up some of the best cocktails in the city.

One of the unique new additions to the Tap House menu is its cocktail’s on tap.  Just as beer lovers can enjoy a cool refreshing beverage straight from a tap cocktail lovers have the same option. The bar also offers flavored ice orbs in a variety of flavors, created to be paired with premium spirits.  While I enjoyed a refreshing Moscow Mule directly from the tap my constant companion had an old fashioned with an apple spice ice orb.

20140923_181953To go along with the amazing cocktails Tap House also offers an extensive menu of small plates and sandwiches. Chef Harrison Mosher and his team produced a great menu of tasty treats.  One of our favorites was the District Wings.  The wings are fried with a thin crust and glazed with agave nectar and lime.  The wings area mouth watering mix of salty and sweet with a delightful crunch and moist tender meat.

Tap House is also home to one of the most amazing burgers in the city. The burger is a beautiful 6oz patty of grass fed beef served with fontina cheese and bacon. Despite the thickness of the patty the meat was juicy and well seasoned.

Chicken tacos are also an easy favorite. The chicken is moist and zesty served on soft tortilla piled high with fresh veggies.

Meat lovers must order the barbecue ribs The ribs are pull apart tender melt in your mouth goodness. The sauce offers the right amount of savory and sweet, and the ribs are coated in it but not swimming in it so you can truly taste the well cooked meat.

District Tap House isn’t just about producing great food and drinks its about creating an atmosphere of fun and hospitality. The staff is friendly knowledgeable and ready to serve you. The space also boasts on of the most reasonably priced menus in the area. Feel free to drop by and have a drink or two. The District Tap House is located at 246 west 38th Street.

Location: 135 West 45th St

Cuisine: American Diner

Items: 2 appetizers, 4 cocktails, 3 entrees, 2 desserts

Best Dish: The burger is hands down one of the very best in the city. The bun is soft and fresh and the meat moist and flavorful  The candied bacon is an incredible add-on that must be experienced.

Overall: A delightful casual atmosphere with good food and a friendly fun staff.

Sometimes the best meals are just outside your hotel room. Some of the best hotels in the city are also home to the best restaurants and bars in New York. Last week we had the pleasure of visiting he newly revamped Bar 54 and T-45 Restaurant in the impressive Hyatt Times Square. The hotel is just a few small steps from the middle of Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue shopping and deep in the heart of the busiest area in all of NYC. The Hyatt has over 400 guest rooms stretched out over 54 stories. Though I am sure the rooms are luxurious we were there to eat drink and be merry.
