Bacon is a natural food enhancer, it approves just about anything you add it to. No one knows the power of bacon better than the good people who organize The Great Big Bacon Picnic, an annual feast for bacon lovers. This year’s event was held on September 24th and 25th and boasted a lineup of over 100 vendors, each one offering a unique dish of bacon or pork belly.

Location: 40 East 20th Street NY, NY

Cuisine: Mexican

Best Dish: The Queso Fundido was as amazing as any cheese lover could imagine. Thick gooey cheese and spicy chorizo in a sizzling platter how could you go wrong? If you prefer sweets to cheese, the churro bowl is the right choice. The warm churro and cold ice cream are a delicious combination.

Overall: A chic sexy space with sumptuous Mexican fare and an impressive assortment of Mezcal and Tequilas. The right space for date night or mingling with other sexy singles.

Restaurant Review: Firehouse Tavern

by xoJohn

Location: 522 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY

Cuisine: American/Mexican

Best Dish: The wings were tasty and well prepared

Overall: It isn’t the best representation of the guilty pleasures you expect from a tavern but it is a welcoming place to watch sports and potentially rub elbows with New York’s bravest.

Firehouse Tavern is a laid back sports bar with an array of memorabilia celebrating New York’s bravest. The pub serves a variety of local beers and features a full bar. We stopped by the venue on a weeknight in search of good bar food. Our friendly server led us to a comfy booth on the upper level offering us a birds eye view of the bar scene below.

This weekend, we had the opportunity to get an inside look at the GBK Luxury Lifestyle Lounge, presented by Express Smile Atlanta. This time around it was in honor of the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, held at the iconic Mandt Brothers Studios in Hollywood. GBK brought together a variety of great brand sponsors for the event, in addition to celebrity guests including Sports Illustrated model Genevieve Morton, actor Will Kemp, Fuller House’s Michael Sun Lee, General Hospital’s Annie Ilonzeh and Vanderpump Rules cast members, Katie Maloney, and Tom Schwartz, among others.
