On Monday, April 30, 2018, the Girl Scouts of Greater New York (GSGNY), New York City’s premier girls’ leadership organization, hosted the Gold Achievement Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street. At the annual event, guests raised money to support growing leadership development programs that are by girls, for girls, and serve over 29,000 girls from every zip code in the city, 70% from low to moderate-income homes.
The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) hosted its annual Collaborating for a Cure Benefit Dinner & Auction at Cipriani Wall Street, posthumously honoring William S. Gorin, former CEO of MFA Financial, Inc., and featuring a musical performance by The Avett Brothers. This year’s event was attended by about 800 corporate executives, board members, and their guests. Chris Wragge, co-anchor of CBS 2 News This Morning, served as master of ceremonies for the event, which raised approximately $2.5 million for SWCRF cancer research programs. The impressive amount raised at the Gala will be used to support the Foundation’s research efforts to produce a cure for cancer by reprogramming cancer cells and to deliver tailored, minimally toxic treatments to patients.
Last night, the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF), hosted the 2017 New York Dinner at Cipriani 42nd Street New York. Award-winning actress and The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg served as guest host for the event. The evening kicked off with PCF founder Michael Milken and Goldberg outlining the evening’s three themes: Women in Science, Big Data, and Family. Army veteran Constance Campbell performed the national anthem before the program started.

This year the organization turned 100 years old.
Denise Rich and Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research celebrated the generous support of the foundation through its Angel Ball Launch Party 2016 at TAO Downtown last week. Guests toasted the Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation with cocktails by the world’s first premium silver whiskey, Manhattan Moonshine. The whiskey brand created delicious Earl Grey Sour cocktails for guests. Due to its naturally sweet, grain forward flavor, Manhattan Moonshine makes the perfect whiskey for cocktails. Founder and CEO William Kehler was on site to serve up these delicious cocktails. Sufi Wines also served guests its perfectly balanced red and white wines.
The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation is an international organization dedicated to curing and preventing cancer. Last week, the charitable organization hosted their 17th annual benefit dinner and auction. The event honored fashion designers and our seatmates, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs, otherwise known as the duo behind Cushnie et Ochs. The evening started with a cocktail reception where more than 750 corporate executives, board members, and their guests mingled and bid on silent auction items. Notables included Dr. Samuel Waxman and family, Chris Wragge, Michael and Elin Nierenberg, Ruth Finley, and a host of others.
Cipriani 42nd Street in New York played host to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) Heroes Gala. IAVA has made it its mission to improve the lives of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families. NBC’s “Today” Show” and MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” host Willie Geist emceed the ceremony and featured a special performance by Kandace Springs.The IAVA recognizes individuals who have shown an immense dedication to the veterans community. For the 10th Anniversary, the organization honored CEO and Co-Founder of Uber Inc., Travis Kalanick, with the 2014 IAVA Civilian Leadership Award, and Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, with the 2014 IAVA Veteran Leadership Award.
Last night, Operation Smile held their 12th annual Smile Event at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. The Smile Event raised $1 million dollars for the charity. NBC NEWS’ Natalie Morales served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening with a special appearance by television personality Michael Strahan made a special appearance.
The Smile Event honored actor Sharif Atkins with the Universal Smile Award for his work as an official Smile Ambassador. Since 2011, Mr. Atkins has been a Smile Ambassador strongly supporting the organization’s global efforts. He has raised countless dollars to heal smiles through Crowdrise as well as National Smile Month in 2012, which helped provide life-changing surgery for 50 children. He also volunteered on a mission in Ecuador in 2013.
The evening quotecorner.com/ventolin.html also honored Lisa and Mat Lori, along with Kathy Van Zeeland and her husband, Bruce Makowsky, with the Founders Circle Award. The Lori’s, Mrs. Van Zeeland and Mr. Makowsky have helped Operation Smile share the joy of a simple smile through their many fundraisers and initiatives. Most notably, they launched an extraordinary project called, The Three Little Bears, named after Lori’s three sons, Zachary, Luke and Griffin, who were all born with facial paralysis. The Three Little Bears initiative was developed, designed and co-created by childhood friends, Lisa Lori, a writer, and Kathy Van Zeeland, a handbag designer.
