Wanderlust

[won-der-luhst] a strong, innate desire to rove or travel about.

Recently, we stopped by the I Love New York 2017 Winter Media Marketplace at Tavern on the Green. At the event, we got a chance to learn more about the tourism in New York, as well as, meet with New York State regional and ski area representatives for the upcoming Winter season. Guests also got a chance to indulge in locally sourced delicacies. When most people think of New York, a restless metropolis with incredible nightlife and award-winning entertainment immediately come to mind.  New York has much more to offer. As city dwellers are often in search of a temporary escape from the bright lights and fast pace. The showcase helped to broaden our staycation horizons with a collection of lodges, resorts and picturesque towns right in our own backyard. The evening showed us the exciting possibilities just a few hours away. Our top 5 destinations include:

Rosewood Theater Opens in NYC

by xoJohn

Open Since

October 26, 2017

Location

552 W 38th Street, New York, NY

Concept

As the sun sets, Rosewood Theater comes to life with unique performances nightly.  Upon entry, you’ll be greeted by a host to welcome you and bring you to your table in the Theater.  There a stage will light up with a variety of acts, creating a one of a kind experience every time you visit.  The bar has an amber glow as the lights warm the whiskeys staged below.  The music is rhythmic and heavy.  The room provides visual stimulation, on the stage and even through slightly-drawn curtains.  A stairway to heaven in the far corner of the theater brings members-only guests to the Lounge where anything can happen.

Jamaica has landed in SoHo, at least for the next few days. The Jamaica Tourist Board has extended Summer vibes for just a few days with their “Feel the Vibe” Pop-Up Shop. The Jamaica Tourist Board’s first-ever interactive pop-up is located at 393 Broadway in New York City.

A visit to New York City is not complete until you have a chance to cruise the Hudson River. There are many options in this city for river cruises. However, if you prefer elegant and intimate experiences than the excursions offered by Classic Harbor Line are for you.

Bridgefest 2017 concluded successfully for the second time on 3rd of August. We ventured out to Newport, RI to be amongst the many spectators for the festival. People who attended the event got the opportunity to experience some breathtaking performances. The combination of Jazz, Indian Carnatic music, and African Beats transformed the entire event into a fascinating one. Bridgefest 2017, which is also known as A Bridge Together has some similarities when compared to other Newport Festivals. The primary objective of Bridgefest is to bring together cultures that are scattered in different parts of the world. When these cultures are brought together, concert goers were able to experience how well they blend with each other.

Cruising along the Hudson is one of the things we look forward to every spring. The view of the infamous NYC skyline and the tranquility of sailing is an experience that never gets old. A few weeks ago we upgraded our usual cruise, with a wine and cheese pairing class aboard Classic Harbor Line‘s Manhattan II. This particular cruise is about 2 hours long and features wines from all over the world paired with artisan cheeses all presented by Wendy Crispell, a certified wine and cheese educator.

Channel Your Inner Child at Club Getaway

by xoJohn

Camp isn’t just for tweens and teens anymore. Club Getaway is a fairly new vacation alternative for kids and adults (Yes adults!) looking to enjoy nature and the thrill of summer camp. The club experience combines camp themed activities with grown-up perks like booze and nightlife. We had the immense pleasure of spending the Summer season’s inaugural weekend at the expansive resort in Connecticut. The weekend of our visit was for the first ever Kirill’s Wet Hot American Weekend, hosted by Kirill Bichutsky. Though Kirill’s reputation is that of an insane party animal, this particular weekend was more about shared experiences and less about his famous “champagne facial” photoshoots. The point of the weekend was to push adult worries to the side and enjoy some fun carefree activities.
