Pascal Jolivet: Wines to Remember

by xoJohn

Domaine Pascal Jolivet is an iconic estate in the French region of Sancerre. The appellation is renowned for its crisp, mineral wines made from Sauvignon Blanc, and its reputation can be mostly attributed to the Jolivet family. Although established in 1926, the estate started branding their wines with the family’s name in 1987, and they’ve never looked back.

Marchesi di Barolo is one of the most historic wineries of the whole Barolo area, with a history dating back more than 200 years, to 1807. In that year the Marquis of Barolo Carlo Tancredi Falletti married Juliette Colbert de Maulévrier, a French noblewoman, it was she who saw the great potential of the Barolo wine, made out of the perfect grape for aging potential, Nebbiolo, named after “nebbia”, fog, which is very common in the area.

Pol Roger Toasts The Brooklyn Bridge

by xoJohn

Earlier this month in France, Champagne purveyor Pol Roger finally opened the first two bottles of their rare 120-year-old champagne. The bottles had been recovered from a 1900 cellar collapse, which devastated the company. The collapse was caused by rain and cost the company an estimated 1.5 million bottles of premium champagne. The bottles were discovered in January of 2018, as the company was building a new packaging facility, above the site of the collapsed cellar. Before torrential rain halted the excavation, they were able to unearth 23 intact bottles which were sealed with wax. Last week, Pol Roger brought their famous champagne to Brooklyn, to toast the borough’s most well-known bridge. A champagne reception and intimate dinner were held at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge’s, stylish rooftop eatery, Harriet’s. The evening was hosted by Hubert De Billy, a fifth-generation member of the Pol Roger family who thoroughly explained Pol Roger’s connection to the massive Brooklyn Bridge which was once used to store their precious champagne.

We’re always on the hunt for the latest in technology, especially headphones. Simply because New York City can be quite noisy and sometimes we just need to drown out the sounds of horns honking, sirens, ambulances, and Showtime on the subway! A nice technically advanced set of headgear will make you feel like you’re in your own world. Sennheiser’s new M3 Momentum Wireless headphones might just do the job. They’re sleek, stylish and bring sound to you more seamlessly than ever before. These newbies to the audio market reproduce the balanced depth and precision of studio-quality sound. We would also love to use the headphones for podcast broadcasting and phone calls.
