Fashion week in New York is a draining experience, running show to show all around the crowded city streets. Seven solid days of presentations and cat walk found my weary companion and I in search of a relaxing place to unwind.
Siriano‘s Spring 2012 is anything but a hot mess. It is a fusion of drama and casual cool. Floor sweeping chiffon skirts paired with simple jersey tees sauntered down the runway. Followed by beautifully draped equally dramatic gowns, in an array of beautiful citrus tones. The former reality star and payless show designer presented a light airy collection for day as well as high drama for evening. In addition to the ornate gowns, tailored cocktail dresses glided down the catwalk, making for a well-rounded collection of looks for every occasion.
Korean designer Choonmoo Park has design in her blood. She has been around the fashion world for her entire life. As a child she spent many days in her family’s apparel business, honing her skills.
A sharply dressed man is a good man to find, and we were surrounded by them during the Nautica 2012 presentation. Held at the pool deck of the empire hotel, the presentation featured 2 distinct ideals. Half of the collection was simplistic, filled with crisp whites and the brands trademark blue.
With so many of her peers entering and leaving the fashion game Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B stands heads and shoulders above the rest. Her runway show is among the most anticipated of the fashion season as it is always filled with drool-worthy sportswear and evening pieces. The for the Spring Summer 2012 season is mostly black and white with surprising pops of color. The usual kaleidoscope of colors that made up past collections has been replaced for 2012. The change is a welcome one as Stefani’s looks are more refined. As with any artistic endeavor, Stefani has shown her versatility and growth with each passing season, leaving fans anxiously anticipating her next move.
One of our favorite things to do at JSD is lend our support to local charities and causes. Of the organizations we’ve worked with the Reeves Foundation is at the top of our list. Their tireless dedication to finding a cure and providing assistance for people with spinal cord injuries. The foundation hosts several fundraising events each year, one of which is the “Night for a Cure”.
The rain did nothing to dampen the spirits of the fashion elite as Mackage presented its out door presentation on Tuesday. Bloggers and editors gladly skipped through raindrops to see the latest pieces offered by the dynamic duo, Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan.

Bloggers and industry insiders spent a lovely evening welcoming this new product into the line. Held in a dimly lit private room at the Ace Hotel in NYC the event featured passing cocktails and edibles as well as live models decked out in Varvatos’ Fall 2011 apparel.
The pieces worn by the models will also be featured in the fall campaign starring hip-hop band “The Roots”.
Attendees were also treated to a presentation by the man of the hour, who gave the inside scoop on his process and the delicious fragrance. To call this a manly scent is, to put it mildly; The combination of elements is an intriguing mix that utilizes signature notes such as leather and wood but adds elements of fruits and florals for a unique aroma. In addition to the cologne itself, careful consideration was utilized in selecting a bottle and in packaging. The bottle is a testament to the scent itself, a chrome and black bottle with a unique opening reminiscent of old canteens and flasks.
