French-born Elie Kuame turned the idea of Fall/Winter on its head with his collection featuring shorts, sweeping skirts, sleeveless dresses and other atypical Fall/Winter colors of whites, yellows and emeralds. In what would typically be identified as a resort collection with these types of colors, and use of sheer blouses, halter dresses and short sets, the collection was unified with earthy, tribal prints throughout.

Using all the tools like leather, fur, metallic, tweed and other popular trends seen throughout this season’s Fall/Winter 2013 runway collections, Jackie Fraser-Swan embodied the modern contemporary woman and brought the “runway to real way” concept very much to life.

The collection, named after her inspiration, Ralph Waldo-Emerson, offered sleeveless turtlenecks, printed blouses, vests and overalls, realized in a skirt. Purples, yellows and blacks dotted the collection, though maroon was really the standout and unifying color.

Brian Wolk and Claude Morais, creative directors of Ruffian presented their Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2013 collection, “Reverie,” reminiscent of a Sherlock Holmes mystery. The pieces evoked Baskerville style with fur lined hats, rich detailing with long sweeping skirts, opulent embroidery and a “street savvy constituency,” realized by the Campus, Harness and Engineer boots from the Frye Company for Ruffian.
