Since 2001, Milly by Michelle Smith has produced timeless silhouettes with smart, sexy and feminine flair. Her spring/summer 2013 collection continued with the same aesthetic. The collection encompassed sophisticated looks filled with bold colors and amazing prints. Neon colors such as green, yellow and coral were a common trend throughout the collection as well as cobalt blue, which has been a favorite these past few seasons. The prints incorporated were chic and tasteful with a slight edge and the base for most of the pieces were outlined in black and white.
Michelle Smith designed with the concept of surrealism in mind that played with the eye, through illusions and unexpected combinations of technical fabrics, couture finishes and dream-like photorealistic prints. Collection highlights included power-stretch dresses featuring oversized mesh and reflective tape accents, while a track jacket is reinvented in pearilized organza and paired with a luminescent silver python-embossed leather pencil skirt.
I can honestly say that I loved all 42 looks especially the pieces that incorporated mesh, skirts and prints. The collection took ready to wear to a fun, flirty and chic place with its use of textures and fabrics. Celeb onlookers in attendance were fashion expert and TV personality Jeannie Mai, Bravo TV House Wives of New Jersey Ramona Singer and Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte just to name a few.
