This past weekend we were treated to a day on the water hosted by Bowmore Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The event was organized by the wonderful folks at Liquor.com and they couldn’t have planned for better weather. Guests sailed aboard a 158-foot schooner. A dozen attendees got to play sailor as they raised the main sail along with the boat’s crew. This allowed for a smooth trip around the tip of Manhattan. The day-trippers had picture postcard views of the Statue of liberty and the New York City skyline.
A Bowmore punch created by David Wondrich and Bowmore 12 Years Old and Bowmore Legend Single Malt was served with fresh oysters. The fun continued on land at Demi Monde for a cocktail party featuring Bowmore 15 Years Old Darkest, 18 Years Old and a special tasting of a rare bottle of Bowmore 25 Year Old Scotch along with an explanation of the origin of the classic Rob Roy Cocktail.
Fans of smoky, peaty Islay single malts should make a trip to the island off the west coast of Scotland. You can stay in one of Bowmore’s recently renovated cottages next to the distillery. Each room includes a complimentary bottle of 12-year-old whisky.
