Movie Review: Madagascar 3 – Europe’s Most Wanted

Madagascar 3 is the best Madagascar movie yet! A thrill-ride through Europe with eye-popping 3-D visuals and joke-filled dialogue for kids and adults alike. All the stars from the previous movies are back – Ben Stiller as Alex the Lion, Chris Rock as Marty the Zebra , Jada Pinkett-Smith as Gloria the Hippo, David Schwimmer as Melman the Giraffe, and Sacha Baron Cohen as King Julian. This movie takes place immediately after the second film; the animals being New Yorkers know there is no place like home so they must find the way back to their beloved Big Apple. The pace is frenetic as the story mixes multiple movie plots to create a roller coaster ride with exciting twists and turns. There is a casino break-in a la “Oceans 11”; Francis McDormand is a welcome addition to the pathos as a maniacal animal control officer on the trail of the escaped zoo animals like “The Fugitive”. What are the animals on the run supposed to do? Why join they “The Greatest Show on Earth”. There they are introduced to the circus life by the performing seal Stefano voiced by comedy legend Martin Short with inherent goodness and glee.  Emmy Award winning actor Bryan Cranston voices the menacing knife throwing Tiger, Vitaly who is distrustful of the new comers. Of course the show must go-on and with the 3-D Visuals the audience has the best seat in the house! This movie has it all pop culture references for the grown–ups and plenty of slapstick, action sequences and dazzling color to keep the kids entertained.
