Karl Lagerfield is one of the fashion industry’s most recognizable personalities. Much like Anna Wintour’s signature bob and Simon Doonan’s love of floral prints, Karl’s trademark look is a major component in his appeal and notoriety. Graphic artist collective ILOVEDUST, in collaboration with Lagerfeld have created a capsule collection of limited edition t-shirts that bring Karl’s style to the masses. The collection was presented via a chic cocktail party in Soho NYC. The party was held in the Karl pop-up shop on Bleeker and featured DJ sets by a New York based trio known as the Misshapes. Guests of the event munched on macaroons washed down with champagne and diet coke. The diverse collection of attendees affectionately known as Karl’s Kult, included notable celebs such as Hilary Rhoda and Mia Moretti.
The look of the fun graphic tees are the work of ILOVEDust, an international design boutique that employs some of the worlds most sought after graphic designers. For the past decade the collective has worked on campaigns for Nike Reebok and a host of other major companies. Their works are eclectic and vary to fit each assignment. For Lagerfeld they sought to capture his very essence in graphic form, the group utilized typography and painted images to convey Lagerfeld’s personal style. Among the images used are his signature leather glove and trademark vest.
The tees will be available in both men’s and women’s. For the women’s line soft yellow, white and orange are the colors of choice. The men’s line is more like the man himself as it is only available in black, white and grey. Though the looks will always be in style, quantities are limited. These special edition tees retail for $95, each and can be found at Karl.com, the Karl pop store at 375 Bleeker street in NYC and Collette in Paris.
