Christian Blanken Spring/Summer 2012

How would you describe the Christian Blanken women? “Charismatic with an artistic side. She is sensory; she enjoys and understands good fabric, tailoring and attention to detail. Her lifestyle requires easy, modern and interesting pieces.”……Christian Blanken in his own words.

For Christian Blanken, his aesthetic is strongly present. Minimalism, drapy fabrics, neutrals, black and rose color controlled the Portico Room of the Somerset House in which Christian Blanken presented his SS/12 Ready-to-Wear collection. The overall feel of this collection was soft and just the right hint of a sharp edge. The contrast of the motorcycle inspired jackets but neatly made in more delicate fabrics other than the usual leather, gave the looks refinery. The tuxedo jacket was also an inspiration to this collection as it was paired up with shimmery black utility dresses, the models ultra cool yet chic. You can easily be fooled into what looked like simplicity designs. But looking closely Christian Blanken has a way of adding such subtle detail in the choice of fabrics that are used, and the way the fabrics draped on the models.
