For the last 25 years diners have enjoyed the fruits of Ron Teitelbaum‘s perseverance. ON June 6th 1986 Ron opened the very first Johnny Rockets on Melrose in Los Angeles. Since then the franchise has mushroomed to over 250 locations across the nation. The quarter century celebration kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the franchise’s newest location NYC’s South Street Seaport. Timed down to the milisecond the ribbon was cut at the exact moment the very first Johnny rockets opened 25 years ago on the opposite side of the country.
For New Yorkers the seaport is a fun center filled with shops, museums and eateries who all benefit from a spectacular view of the lower Manhattan waterfront. The addition of the rockets franchise will add another family friendly venue for lovers of burgers fries and shakes. If you’ve never been inside a johnny rockets you are truly missing out. The friendly atmosphere and familiar menu items all play homage to the diners of the 40’s and 50’s.
Partygoers were treated to the Rocket’s signature burgers, served wrapped in paper and piled high with fixings, as well as fries onion rings and of course thick frothy shakes. The Oreo and Strawberry shakes were served topped with whipped cream in traditional and alcoholic versions.
