For fall 2011 retailer Forever 21 finds its inspiration in a mixture of bygone eras. As a brand for every girl their commitment to providing looks for its diverse customer base has resulted in an assortment of styles ranging from soft and girly 20’s inspiration to 80’s punk. An eclectic mix to say the least each individual look was presented in a vignette, with models draped in the collections primary pieces. The four main looks were:
Vintage Darling : Old becomes new in this collection of soft lace and pearls. The muted palette and flirty lace may be reminiscent of granny’s closet, but the look is anything but old. We loved the Chanel style jacket and flirty mini dress, the pearls add an extra element of 20’s glam.
Rustic Cabin: While the other themes harken a time this theme recalls a specific place, the southwest to be precise. Inspired by Navajos and the desert plains, this look is fuss free and filled with elements of nature. The rich colors and tribal details are perfect accents to the rich oranges and reds of fall.
Boho Vignette: 70’s Boho chic made it’s way into the fall roster, bringing with it fringe and suede. Wide brimmed hats and soft florals rounded out the Bohemina looks. We loved the floral maxi dress and the platforms in this look.
Midnight Angel: The last of the vignettes was an 80’s odessey. Inspired by the punk era and peppered with bits of neon over basic black, this set embodied the spirit of fun and effortless cool that forever 21 is known for. We loved the lace overlay skirt with the oversized blouse and cinched waist. It’s a delicious mash up of Madonna and Molly Ringwald.
