Tadashi Shoji Spring 2011

As a fan of renaissance artwork and romanticism viewing Tadashi Shoji‘s presentation during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week made me long for the times I spent at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.Drawing inspiration from artwork in that time period his attempt to create a live painting was well executed.

Shoji’s palette was fairly tame with most pieces being in the warm color palette including neutrals updated with patterns. All in all it was a collection of pretty dresses, but that is it. Nothing really made me feel that gut reaction of being in the presence of a spectacular piece.

If I had to choose a piece that I loved the most I would choose the one shoulder lavender silk chiffon dress with hand cut “floral” details. I am a fan of chiffon and organza

The presentation grabbed my attention more than the actual styles.
